The Spine & Pain Center of Kaua’i Announces Daniel Choi , MD as New Owner
May 19, 2020-Kuau’i, HI-The Spine & Pain Center of Kaua’i (SPCK) is excited to announce a change in ownership. As of May 1, 2020, Daniel S Choi, MD, MBA will be taking over the practice. Dr. Choi, the primary provider at SPCK for the past two years, is thrilled at the new opportunity to serve the Garden Island in this new capacity.
“I am heartened by the community that exists here and have been inspired to serve the people of Kaua’i. I am now honored to deepen my roots and provide hope and care for those who are suffering. We are here as this is our practice, existing for the care of our ohana, for the future of our island.” said Dr. Choi.
Lt. Governor of Hawaii, Josh Green MD commended the change, “The Spine & Pain Center of Kauai has been a welcome piece of the healthcare system in the beautiful Garden Isle. Their professionalism and expertise are essential to provide quality care to patients on Kauai.”
Dr. Choi is an award-winning interventional pain physician who specializes in minimally invasive techniques to decrease suffering and enhance the quality of life in his patients. He brings with him a wealth of experience and tools to help people from head to toe.
“My goal is to do the least possible to provide the most possible to restore function and quality of life. I specialize in treating painful conditions including spine diseases with procedures that may not even require stitches,” said Dr. Choi.
The Spine & Pain Center of Kaua’i will remain a sister practice with Neurovations, founded by Dr. Eric Grigsby in 1996. This allows the practices to collaborate for the benefit of the patients and the community. Neurovations, a patient care and innovation company, includes research and education divisions, with SPCK remaining as an essential contributor. Neurovations has hosted the Kauai Pain Conference for the past 6 years to improve the knowledge and disseminate the art of Pain Medicine among health care providers locally and nationally. Dr. Choi is well versed in patient care, innovation, research, and education. He is an excellent fit and well suited for the task.
“The simple truth is that when I founded SPCK in 2012, there was a need to ease the suffering of chronic pain patients. I have no doubt that Dr. Choi will continue this mission and that the community is in his excellent care,“ said Grigsby.
Dr. Choi completed his pain fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Woman’s Hospital, Boston. He mastered residency training in Anesthesiology at Columbia University Medical Center, New York City. Prior to this, he matriculated at Albany Medical College, New York, and where he was inspired to become an interventional pain physician. He is double boarded in Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology. He has a reputation as an excellent clinician and a dedicated family man. He will continue to bring to the Kaua’i community the very best patient care possible.
“I have cared for the whole spectrum of patients suffering from pain, from people with back pain to limb pain, headaches to joint aches, strokes to cancers, traumatic injuries to genetic diseases, and even from odd atypical conditions. I want to ease the suffering of people, be there as a helping hand, and cheer them on as they live and engage. What an honor and privilege it is. Thank you for the opportunity.” said Choi.
